Veeam Backup for Microsoft Entra ID supports two sorts of backup jobs:
- Tenant backup jobs – Protect Users, groups, administrative units, roles and applications.
- Log jobs – Protect tenant audit and sign-in logs.
One backup job can protect the data of only one tenant.
1. Login to the Veeam Backup and Replication Manager server.
2. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication Console and click Connect.
3. Enter the MFA Confirmation code and click Confirm.
4. Right-click Backup on the Home page and select Backup.
5. Select Microsoft Entra ID and click Tenant.
6. Enter the Entra ID Tenant backup job name in the Name field on the Name page.
7. Enter the Entra ID Tenant backup job description In the Description field and click Next.
8. Select the backup tenant in the Tenant field on the Tenant page.
9. Enter the retention days in the Retention policy field and click Advanced.
7. Select Hyperscalers on the Object Storage page.
10. Select the Encryption tab on the Advanced Settings page and select Enable backup data encryption.
11. Select or add a password in the Password field.
12. Click OK.
13. Click Next on the Tenant page.
14. Select Run the job automatically on the Schedule page and select your specified schedule.
15. Define whether Veeam Backup & Replication should retry the backup job if it fails in the Automatic retry section.
16. Define the time interval the backup job must complete in the Backup window section. The backup window ensures that the job does not overlap with production hours and that there is no unnecessary overhead on the production environment.
17. Click Apply.
18. Click Finish on the Summary page.
19. Verify that the Entra ID Tenant backup job has been added.
